FRESHNESS FROM THE SEA at AROMA SOP SEAFOOD

Last week during my exam week, I had a little getaway to Muara Karang with my friends. It's just about 15 minutes to reach this Aroma Sop Seafood restaurant from Pantai Indah Kapuk. This place recommended by my friend who like to visit this many times.

Aroma Sop Seafood located in Pasar Muara Karang. You could see several aquarium rack and some basket full of shell, shrimp, and squid at the entrance.

The best seller of this restaurant is Jenaah Cabe Hijau, this is a grilled one but before, they steamed it first, so it will created a juicy fish meat and broth coming out as you pick the meat.

The fish layered with a green sauce, that's the Sambal Cabe Hijau that perfected all over the fish. It's not that spicy as its looks like. The spiciness is medium and the Sambal is not oily like the one made in Padang Restaurant.

Overall, the Sambal is very addictive, and the fish is very fresh.

The second one is Steamed Shrimp. Ordinary steamed. No seasonings added. Only a chili sauce combined with shredded pineapple. At the picture, the sauce is located far from the shrimp -.- it's the small bowl with red-yellow things inside.

The Steamed Shrimp has a very savory meat texture. It's super fresh, because they boiled it when they were still alive then steamed it. Kinda rude but ended up being a better things called food. This steamed shrimp is very sweet and tender. Well-cooked, as you could see the red color is being the main temptation for me to quickly try it as it arrived on my table.

Then the Fried Squid with Salted Egg. I'm a fan of salted egg, I could eat like a barbarian only with salted eggs and a bowl of warm rice. I write that with plural form, because one is never enough.

It's not very salty, a little bit spicy, and a little sweetness from the squid. I haven't seen the squid whether it's boiled first when they're alive or already died and stored in a basket. But, I still could taste the freshness. Some restaurant often make mistakes by overcooked the squid, the meat will be tough. Here in Aroma Sop, you will not find that kind of mistake, the squid is tender and juicy, you will know the real taste of squid combined with a savory salted egg, a mashed salted egg.

The last one is Kangkung Cah Terasi. Maybe I should write this article in Bahasa since I don't find any English word suitable for the name of the food. For me, this Kangkung is the spiciest among all those foods on the table. It uses mashed red chili and the chili oil really dominating the whole plate. Very hot and spicy, salty, and the smell of Terasi only could be smelled slightly, don't worry it's not that smelly.

This stir-fry Kangkung comes with a small portion, so if you come with your family, you might order it by more portion.

Generally, my most favorites are the Jenaah Cabe Hijau & Steamed Shrimp. I really want to have another time to visit this restaurant again!

Oh just FYI, I paid only 266.000 IDR for all those on the table! There is also a delicious Pisang Goreng Wijen (Fried Banana with Sesame) beside Aroma Sop.

Thank you for reading!

BOULANGERIE PROVENCE Japanese Bakery: AN IRREPLACEABLE MILK PAN

Helloo! This is Tiffany Felicia sharing,I've just a wrote a little introduction on the last post by the way. Some of you who regularly read my new updates might wonder where do I live, since it looks like I go to Pantai Indah Kapuk often just to get a food -.-

I live in Tangerang, near the airport, so it doesn't take a long time for me to reach Pantai Indah Kapuk. The highway itself is different, no traffic and any other disturbance which usually extend my arrival time -_-

So, there is one bakery I have put my attention on. Provence, this France written bakery located near SumoBoO and their big neon maroon billboard could be seen from the pathway.

First I entering the bakery, I smell the real baked bread aroma burst to all over the room. The bakery is pretty small, but it sells several variants of bread start from a sweet one till a miniature pizza.

When I came that day, the baker just put those newly-baked bread under the window which separate the kitchen and those bread-for-sale rack.

Then I asked the waitress, she said those are Milk Pan and one of the best seller. So, without any doubt I bought one to try.

That how it looks from the top. You could easily guess the bread itself have a texture like Mantao or Pao in dimsum. But, the different is, when the Mantao or Pao are steamed, this 'kind-of-bun' is baked in oven.

Let's look at the filling, the milky sticky filling, as you bring it home it will get stickier because of the room temperature. So, better have it after baked or warmed it a little while in oven or microwave.

Say hello to the milky filling, it smells really like a fresh milk, without any kind of sweety aroma. The texture almost the same like a fla from Kue Sus. It's sweet, but not that sweet. I can't explain more, since everything I could taste is a very rich milk inside a bun. The bun is a little bit tasteless, but a slightly sweet still could be tasted.

There's a big possibilities you might like only the filling, like I am. And maybe some of you would only like the bun, the bun itself is kinda savory alongside with its tastelessness.

But for me, I bite the bun and the milky filling at the same time, the tasteless of the bun will be improved and perfected with the filling. I really impressed with the rich milky flavor from the filling, it's a very fresh milk inside a bun. Oh, no rum added by the way, so let's enjoy a fresh milk in different way!

see yaaa :*

Let's take a break: A Little Story Behind This Blog

It's always nice to greet you guys, this is Tiffany Felicia the author of dailymealjournal writing :)

It's almost 3 months I have been writing this blog, thinking what kind of food I have to review and the most important is, where on earth I have to go to fulfill the requirement of updating this blog.

Yes, I do said 'requirement', this kind of requirement began since my 4th semester started. My teacher told all the students to build up their professional online profile, and the first thought at that time was making a food blog and being a foodblogger.

So, being a foodblogger wannabe is a challenging task for me. I'm in Marketing Management major and this kind of writing, improves me a lot. I start to learn how to make others experience and 'taste' what I have eaten through a writing.

And, I realize everyone does struggle. I struggle to keep writing and be active to updating this blog. I study at Prasetiya Mulya School of Business and Economics, my everyday's activities are doing homework, projects, and meetings.

Yes, meetings, I currently active in Student Board 2013/2014, a student organization which exists to hear all the civitas of Prasetiya Mulya aspiration and running several big events, one of them is Pop Up Market which has successfully held last April in Kuningan City.

As a 20 years old girls, I do have a plan for my future. My plan is, continue my study to master degree and I swear I will never take any kind of academical major anymore. Maybe I will take an art major, not drawing, I can't even draw a circle perfectly, I might choose something like floristry -.- or culinary arts.

That's all, and I really thank all of you who read my blog, really thank you :")

INTERMEZZO: First Trial of Penne Arrabiata N'Duja at Pizza Marzano

Good Afternoon! This will be a short intermezzo written by me Tiffany Felicia about something I've just eaten last night.

Last Saturday night, while waiting for my brother, I was going to Lippo Karawaci and find my self a little bit craving for pasta. At first, I was thinking to save my crave till upcoming Tuesday, and planning to have a plate of pasta at Pepenero.

But, I suddenly remember there is one of Italian Restaurant in Lippo Karawaci, not Pepenero, but I'm sure it would not disappoint me, since I always find that restaurant got full every weekend. So, I decided to try something there.

After scanning all over the menus, I couldn't find something made by veggies. Then, I search something made by tomato sauce such the one I had at Union. So, I order this Penne Arrabiata N'Duja.

That's how it looks. The white one on the top is not an ice cream -.- it's ricotta cheese, it's creamy and as you stir and mixed all the pasta, it will melt and mixed with the sauce.

I found the Penne was well-cooked, not too soft nor tough. It's called al-dente. The sauce is sour because of the tomato puree, sweet as well, and a little bit spicy. But, for me the spiciness didn't that spicy, so I sprinkled a little dried chili powder and black pepper. I found this tastier after that.

The ricotta didn't have an important role on the plate by the way, it's just giving a 'more-savory' and delicate texture. I had tasted the ricotta it self before mixed it, it's tasteless! totally tasteless. So, you don't have to worry if the cheese might ruin your appetite, it's odorless, not that kind of Italian Cheese you have been imagine so far.

You might wonder, 'am I going to eat only those Penne?'. No, of course not, there are generous sliced beef sausage hiding under the Penne. The sausage is a smoked one and it will complete all the combination of flavor!

Not to exaggerate, I really recommend this and Pizza Marzano restaurant if you are looking for an authentic Italian cuisine. Perfectooo!

RAINBOW KITCHEN - ONE OF ALL YOU CAN EAT DIM SUM

HELLO!! This is Tiffany Felicia writing and this would be my last post and the last day of dailymealjournal existence :"( my school project will be done soon and I haven't decide whether having this blog as my permanent sharing media or left this blog as the deadline of the project.

On this last post, I will gladly reviewing my favorite China originated cuisine called DIMSUM. That picture taken at Rainbow Kitchen Pantai Indah Kapuk. They provide Sukiyaki and Dim Sum. Here, I talk about their super affordable all u can eat Dim Sum. They charge Rp 63.000,- as you could order all kind of Dim Sum in their menus book for many times. But, you have to remember, they will also charge every leftover on your table Rp 7.000,- per piece. So, make sure you will ate up what you've ordered.

For this review, I choose some to be my recommendation. First, the Lo Bak Koh. It has very smooth filling and crunchy outer layer. It's kinda bland, but you still could taste a little bit salty radish. This Lo Bak Koh going well with the Dim Sum sauce and Sukiyaki sauce if you like spicy food.

As you could see above, the white layers are the mashed radish and combined with sliced fried onions. The golden-brown layers are the skin, it has crunchy textures.

The second one is the Hakau. On the first picture, it's two portions of Hakau mixed in a one plate, it's originally come with 4 pieces per portion. The Hakau has one shrimp inside, a little broth, and the skin is a little bit thicker than the other Hakau. I personally didn't like the skin, but the shrimp was indicated that it's made by the order, such a fresh one.

Next is The Vegetables Chieves Dumplings. I'm a big fan of veggies and I think, this dumplings has a very nice proportion between the green and orange veggies. It's contain shrimp inside and seems like the veggies are cooked with a little broth. The problem for me still the skin, it has the same type of skin with those Hakau, sorry to say, I only ate up the filling and left the skin. But those veggies should be appreciated for its deliciousness.

The last one is the Chasiew Bun.

Its shape might not perfect, but here the taste matters more. I read somewhere that a good bun must have it's top cracked, so does this bun. I like the filling, and the bun. The bun kinda sweeter than usual,  but I think, it's made that way in purpose to balance the salty chicken inside the bun. The chicken a little bit salty, even though usually chasiew bun comes with sweet filling. Overall, the buns are savory, maybe because of the sweetness or the chicken meat. Even though I like this buns, when it comes to an all u can eat restaurant, I will never request any kind of buns. It makes me get full easily.

Those three are my recommendations, not because the other kinds are not tasty but because a bigger possibilities I have to come again and request for those recommended dim sum. The prices are very affordable, but yes, price comes with quality, if you only looking for a delicious yet glut you, this is a perfect place to go.

Thank you for reading!

OKINAWA MILK TEA by DAKASI

Guten Abend! The exam week is officially oveeerrrrr!! :"D finally I could manage my time to come here again updating something delicious or new for me. This time, I would write something about OKINAWA MILK TEA by DAKASI. Dakasi is a franchise beverages, their specialty is milk tea and pure tea. Located in Ruko Cordoba, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Dakasi being an 'one stop Taiwanese street F&B shop'. Beside having milk tea at the first floor of the building, Dakasi opens the shop with one of super famous Taiwanese Chicken Fillet in town called Shihlin. Shihlin located at the second floor in the same building.

When you first entering the shop, you'll be greeted by the backyard garden look-a-like concept with wooden floor on the entrance. You could choose whether to enjoy your F&B outdoor or indoor. The outdoor decorated by fake flowers structured to be a wall to separate the building as well as blocking the sun, since Pantai Indah Kapuk a little bit hot and the sun shine too bright -.- The outdoor seat and the indoor separated by a set of glassy door, so it's still kinda hot inside, but several air conditioner could save you.

After some moments to make up my mind when looking at their full menus with unique milk tea I've just read only at Dakasi, I decided to have Okinawa Milk Tea, since one of my friend has ever recommended me about this.

As you could see above, the logo of Dakasi is a yellow cute star with eye smiles. This logo attached on the top of the building as well, so it would be easy to find this shop.

Generally, Okinawa Milk Tea has almost similar flavor with other milk tea, but, there is one thing that impressed me. Usually, milk tea has fruity or traditional aroma such as Jasmine or Oolong, but this Okinawa Milk Tea is coming with a flowery aroma. The aroma smell like a combination of Rose, Jasmine, and Green Tea, blend with a pure milk. I chose to have a low sugar one, so the tea still could be tasted. The tea slightly bitter, but its bitterness is different with green tea, even though it has green tea aroma.

As the topping, I chose Grass Jelly. The grass jelly also has different taste with others, it's more chewy and a little bit sweet. So, I thank the sweetness, because when you have both the milk tea and grass jelly inside your mouth, the flavors are blending together creating a 'kinda sweet milk tea'. That's why, I recommend you to have it with low sugar one. The grass jelly served with a cube-shaped one, so it's easier to flowing through the straw and you will have both milk tea and grass jelly run out at the same time later.

Dakasi serving milk tea on 2 sizes, regular and large. It's also worth to buy and has a nice place to chat with your loved one!

Thank you for reading this blog :")

GYOKURO The Green Tea Specialist

HELLOO readers :* this is my first post during my exam week :( I've been facing difficulties since last Monday and now I'm asking myself what did I do at the class, seems like everything was new when I read the questions paper. This morning (02.05.2014) was Financial Management mid test and I just found myself staring for almost 20 minutes to the whole paper, wishing a fairy godmother came in and whispered nothing but the answers.

So, after facing a hard time and using 150 minutes to the fullest, I finally let myself surrender to any possibilities might happen to my answers. Then, I asked my friends to go somewhere outside campus to have a little happiness. We decided to go to Alam Sutera, actually we went there for having a brunch, and we need something sweet as usual.

Surprisingly, I was remember that my friend on Path has ever posted something about Gyokuro, since the place located at Mall @ Alam Sutera, I asked my friend to accompany me trying their menus.

Gyokuro claimed them self as 'Green Tea Specialist', and I found myself as a 'Matcha or Green Tea addict' (like I've just mentioned on my last post). Based on that kind of compatibility, I was ensure myself that I will like all their beverages & dessert, but....it's still kinda confusing me to choose. At the end, I chose Ma Matcha Parfait

Here is the Parfait...

That's how it looks, the top layer is green tea ice cream, you could request whether having it with ice cream or froyo, next time I will change it into froyo. The ice cream having a soft texture but not heavy, it's not milky, seems like the proportion of matcha : milk is dominated by matcha. The ice cream tastes sweet yet bitter of tea. The sweetness doesn't dominating but you could still taste it, the bitterness of tea might be left a little bit longlasting on your tongue but that's the best part of enjoying green tea or matcha for me.

You could enjoy the matcha side-by-side with the 3 pieces of long wafers and red beans. I like the red beans, sweet and soft, blend together with the bitterness of the matcha. The 2 pieces of white-colored balls are mochi, it has ogura filling. For me, the mochi didn't served well because it's not sticky and tender, but the flavor was delicious.

The second layer is vanilla ice cream with corn flakes, seems like the vanilla will tastes better if it's mixed with the green tea ice cream. The vanilla itself has a milky texture and sweet, I like it, but still prefer the green tea ice cream. The last layer is coffee jelly, I didn't finished it and left it. I think the coffee jelly should be changed with something matched the vanilla ice cream, especially the green tea ice cream, because when the green tea ice cream melts, it will mixed the vanilla ice cream and created a very delicious combination, but the coffee jelly kinda ruined it HEHE..

Overall, I like this Ma Matcha Parfait, but I wouldn't crave it for some more, I'll come back to Gyokuro to taste their froyo and matcha latte next time!

thank you for reading :*
